What sets Ninh Binh apart from other places in Vietnam?

It's like a small community, kinda village-like, ya know? Some might find it annoying, 'cause everyone knows everyone. But on the flip side, it's super friendly, gives off a homey vibe. You always find a way to chat 'cause people here are just so welcoming.

My take on Ninh Binh's food?

In the North, they munch on more soup-based dishes. Tasty, but the flavors are kinda mild. Down South, everything's dunked in sauce, and it's mostly sweet. In the middle, we borrow a bit from Saigon, a bit from Hanoi, but our flavors here are bold. Our fish sauce, shrimp paste, and tofu sauce are all fermented, so the aroma is just intense.

The quintessential Ninh Binh dish, according to me?

In Ninh Binh, it's all about that crispy rice (cơm cháy Ninh Bình), served with goat meat and sausage. The crispy rice crunches, the goat meat is tender and aromatic, and the sausage is just as tasty. The kicker is the dipping sauce. Mix it all up and dig in. Add some herbs, and it's a whole different ball game.

"That's the true Ninh Binh experience—bold, authentic, and unapologetically home."

Some cafes in Ninh Binh I'd recommend?

With Vietnamese coffee, it ain't just about tasting the coffee: it's about the vibe, the crowd, the scene, watching folks pass by. My buddy and I often hit up a cafe on Trang An street. That place is legit local. Just street coffee but they've got a solid sound system, and they blast all the old hits. Sometimes, people come just to listen to the tunes and reminisce.

Where would you find me on a Sunday?

Morning, I'd be at a coffee shop with family and friends. It's Sunday, so you can spend hours sipping coffee and gossiping. For lunch, I'd head to the beach, chill at a nice restaurant, swim, feast on seafood. Sometimes, I hit a waterfall, camp from noon till dusk.

A must-have experience in Ninh Binh?

The phrase ‘going out for drinks’ must be our national anthem in Ninh Binh. You hit up a nice spot, eat tons, drink loads of beer, and chat all day. We've got so many great seafood joints 'cause the seafood here is just fresh.

How can travelers experience local life in Ninh Binh?

Best way to feel Ninh Binh isn't just doing the touristy stuff. Walk the streets, see the families, the vendors, sit down for a coffee. Find a local granny, selling bread or something. Ask her anything, and she'll find a way to communicate with you. Have a banh mi and coffee right next to her. Truly feels like you're part of it.

A perfect night out in Ninh Binh, for me?

To be honest: I love my town and there's so much fun stuff to do. For me, I dig dancing, so the perfect night out is a dance event at a beachside bar.

My thoughts on Ninh Binh's growth?

I'm all for it 'cause you see yourself growing, and my growth happened alongside the city. Especially over the last decade, it's been booming and blossoming super fast. Totally transformed, in a new and exciting way. Ninh Binh's home, and at the same time, we're growing together.
